Fees for official degree courses taught at public universities and the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) are set by the Government of Catalonia, within the general limits of public prices established for the whole of Spain. Students have to pay the prices set out in Decree 268/2016, of 5 July, setting out the fees for academic services at the public universities of Catalonia and the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) for the academic year 2016-2017 (DOGC no. 7157, of 7/07/2016).
The aim of the policy on fees and scholarships established by the Government of Catalonia is to ensure budget stability and promote a greater sense of shared responsibility on the part of those receiving educational services at the post-compulsory stage of education. The governing bodies of private universities set the fees for these institutions. This means that the decree mentioned above does not apply to the price of academic services at these universities.
Credits for official bachelor’s degree courses are divided into three fee levels depending on the coefficient of the teaching structure, according to the amount of practical work involved.
